We meet on Wednesdays, 6:30-7:30
Halloween might be a spooky time, but it can also be a
time to do something surprisingly nice for others. With that in mind it
was suggested that we do a service project. After some conversation, we
thought it would be nice to make a little something that we could take to our
church members at Carroll House and Jefferson Park. What to make?
That was the big question. Some ideas were shared, but no conclusions
were drawn. So, we are inviting everyone to look around for some small,
simple to make, little thing we could make. If you find a good idea,
email it to Susan. We will look at your ideas and make a decision
at our upcoming meeting on October 11. We will make our "treats"
on Wednesday, October 18 and then deliver them to the nursing homes on
Wednesday, October 25. So, we need to decide at our next meeting
what we will make. By the way, we will need a few parents to drive us to
the nursing homes (hint, hint).
last meeting we decided to have our Christmas party on Wednesday, December
13. So, be sure to put that on your calendar. We agreed to
exchange "secret Santa" gifts. We settled on a $10 maximum for these
gifts. You can make a list of things you might want for $10 so your
secret Santa will have an idea about what to get you. We'll draw names
for the gift exchange when we get closer to the party.

C.M.U. Tops in Dollars for
Central United Methodist University (formerly, Central
United Methodist College) leads all UMC-related colleges and universities in
the country in the number of Dollars For Scholars student aid recipients.
C.M.U. partners with local United Methodist congregations, the United Methodist
Higher Education Foundation (UMHEF) and the Missouri United Methodist
Foundation (MUMF) to provide these renewable ($3K-$4K) scholarships. This
year C.M.U. and the Missouri Conference had 45 DFS recipients, second only to
the Georgia Conference, which has nearly a dozen UMC-related colleges and
universities compared to Missouri's one and only university-C.M.U.
