About Soul Food

Fourteen Years of Sharing God's Love
History
Our Soul Food ministry started at the Carrollton United Methodist Church began back in 2004.  During the winter of 2010-11 we delivered 44 meals each Sunday. The need in our community rose dramatically the following winter as we prepared and delivered an average of 82 Sunday evening meals. Other churches in our community joined the Soul Food ministry in January 2012 making it possible to serve more people each week. We have served over 90 weekly meals each year since 2013 and at times we have served over 100 Sunday evening meals.
We always begin serving meals on the Sunday after Thanksgiving and continue through Palm Sunday (the Sunday prior to Easter).
This Year
We will probably be serving over 90-100 meals each Sunday during the 2018-19 season. Participating Carrollton churches are:  Carrollton United Methodist Church, First Christian Church, St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Church of the Nazarene, First Baptist Church, and Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Funding
Each participating church funds the expenses for the Sundays they prepare and deliver meals.  If you would like to make a monetary contribution to this vital ministry, please make out your check to the church, but be sure to write the words, “Soul Food” in the memo line.  Thanks for your support.
