Magnificent Methodist Malt Shop

Sometimes life is just plain fun!!  Although it was a whole lot of work and we were exhausted by the end of the day, all four youth in this year's confirmation class really got in the spirit of the Rockin' 50s.  Each decoration brought another smile to their young faces.  Having the malt shop table and four stools was a wonderful addition.  We loved it!!  Thanks to Mikki and Scott McNelly for sharing such a treasure with us.

The day could not have been more perfect.  The food was great.  Listening to songs that used to be played over and over again on the jukebox was fun.  (Sorry but Elvis was not in the building that day.  Maybe he'll be featured next time.)  The ice cream and waffle bowls were tasty, too.  What a treat it was to see all of you enjoy eating a waffle bowl for the first time.  We enjoyed listening to the stories you shared about your own malt shop memories.

The focus of this fundraiser was for our church's new scholarship fund.  After deducting expenses, and crunching numbers, we discovered we made about $1,200.00 at the Methodist Malt Shop!  And it all goes to the scholarship fund.  You, the congregation, are the reason for this success, and the confirmation class appreciates your support.

Thank you, Michael Mulch, for giving us such an awesome price break (as well as cooking most of the meal and then delivering it).  Thank you, Mikki, for your wonderful ideas and help with decorating the room.  Thank you confirmation class -- Bailey, Brooke, Kylar, and Sally -- for jumping right in and working so hard with such enthusiasm.  Each of you brings so much joy to the rest of us.  Thank you parents for getting your children to all the confirmation classes, required service projects, and our fund raiser.  Most of all, thanks to all of you for your generosity, and for allowing us to share a little bit of the past with you.  It truly was a fun day!
