Soul Food 2016-2017

We are getting ready for another round of serving warm meals on Sunday evenings to Carrollton families in need.  This year the Carrollton United Methodist Church will be joined by the First Christian Church, St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Church of the Nazarene, First Baptist Church, and Immanuel Lutheran Church in an effort to prepare and serve Soul Food meals.

These six churches will begin cooking and delivering meals on Sunday, November 27, 2016.  Our last set of Sunday meals will go out on April 9.  Delivery to homes will begin at 4:00 p.m. each Sunday (drivers pick up the meals at church at 3:45 p.m.).

Once again we will have five delivery routes!  So, we need 5 drivers each Sunday!

Each of the six churches will prepare and deliver meals on certain Sundays.  (See List).  The Sundays our United Methodist Church will be preparing meals are listed below.

Helpful Hints for Cooks & Drivers

  • This year we anticipate serving 100 meals each week.
  • We respectfully request that the menus steer away from soups as we have had issues with spillage in the past.
  • We are aiming for the drivers to pick up the boxed meals by 3:45 p.m.  The first home delivery should be no sooner than 4:00 p.m.
  • We would very much appreciate clear written feedback from the drivers regarding families who aren't home to receive the meals as well as any misinformation that we may have on our lists (wrong address, incorrect number of dinners needed, etc).
  • Please call/text Susan Finlayson with any driver feedback (nobody home, vacant house, etc).  If you need Susan' phone number call the United Methodist Church office (542-0277) to get it.
  • It is extremely helpful to receive your church driver's feedback no later than Monday evening after your Soul Food delivery so that we can pass the info along to Dee Fergason.  She will look over our feedback and contact any clients that need to be checked on.  Then, Susan Finlayson can update our delivery list if necessary.
  • Updated driver sheets will be sent out by Wednesday each week (folks who have moved, are hospitalized, or are new additions to Soul Food will be reflected on the updated sheets).
  • If we should ever have to cancel the Soul Food delivery due to bad weather, we will notify KMZU (660-542-0404).
